Hangzhou Jinjiang Group plans to invest 13 billion yuan ($2.02 billion) to build an alumina refinery with an annual capacity of 5 million tons in two phases in Dandong, a coastal city in Liaoning Province. The project is another large alumina refinery project planned by the coastal province, following the Jinzhou Port alumina refinery project with a planned capacity of 10 million tons per annum. The refinery will adopt the Bayer alumina production process and mainly use bauxite from Guinea.
Hangzhou Jinjiang Group is one of the three largest alumina suppliers in China. It also operates two aluminum smelters with a total output of around 1.36 million tons per annum and an additional 1.5 million-ton capacity under construction in Ningxia and Inner Mongolia.
