The new aluminum smelter of Inner Mongolia Huayun New Materials Co., Ltd. was put into full production on Nov. 22. Consisting of two 350,000-kilowatt generating units and a 500kA potline of 342 pots, the project with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons began construction in April 2015 and started the first pot on May 26, 2017.
Inner Mongolia Huayun New Material is held 50% by Baotou Aluminum, a subsidiary of Chalco, and 50% by Baotou Transportation Investment Group. It is planned that Baotou Aluminum will start to repurchase all the shares held by Baotou Transportation Investment Group from 12 months after the project is put into operation. The repurchase is expected to be completed within 3 to 5 years.
