Gansu Provincial People’s Government on August 30 issued a guideline on further reducing the cost of electricity to support industrial development. The guideline set a clear electricity price gradient for the aluminum smelting industry.

The benchmark price is set as ¥0.3/kwh corresponding to the aluminum price of ¥12,500/ton. When the aluminum price goes up/down by over ¥100/ton, there is a corresponding increase/decrease of ¥0.03/ kWh in the electricity price. When the aluminum price is lower than ¥12,500/ton, no more subsidies.
